‘Star Wars’ adds new droid stamps with US Postal Service

The United States Postal Service and Lucasfilm will team up to launch 10 new “Star Wars” character stamps to promote education.

  • The new stamps – which will be launched in the spring – are part of Lucasfilm’s new commitment to science, technology, engineering and mathematics projects.

What stamps are there?

Droids are the centerpiece of the new stamps. The available stamp options include:

  • IG-11.
  • R2-D2.
  • K-2SO.
  • DOES.
  • L3-37.
  • BB-8.
  • C-3PO.
  • A GNK (or Gonk) energy android.
  • Surgical droid 2-1B.
  • C1-10P, commonly known as “Chopper”.

Why are they being released?

The “Star Wars” labels are being launched in collaboration with “Star Wars: Force for Change” – which promotes education among the “Star Wars” community – and the global non-profit organization “FIRST” (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).
