Stanly volleyball teams open qualifiers on Tuesday – The Stanly News & Press

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association launched the volleyball keys for the playoffs. Three teams from Stanly County qualified for the postseason, which starts Tuesday at 7pm.

Thirty-two teams in the four standings qualified for the playoffs, against 64 last season. The playoffs are also one round less, with five wins needed to win a state title.

2A Playoffs

West Stanly (11-0) enters the 2A Western Region as the runner-up and would potentially have the advantage of playing at home until the regional finals.

The Colts will receive No. 15 Central Davidson (9-5), who finished third at the Central Carolina Conference, behind the Oak Grove Grizzlies and the South Rowan Raiders.

The winner between West Stanly and Central Davidson will face Raiders No. 7 or No. 10 South Point on Thursday.

1A Playoffs

North Stanly, for winning the Yadkin Valley Conference, is 5th in the 1st West Region and will host 12th in the Rosman Tigers (9-2). The Tigers finished second in the Smoky Mountain Conference, losing twice to number 7 seedling Murphy (13-0).

Gray Stone Day, which finished third at YVC, won the number 13 seed in West 1A. The Knights (7-3) will travel to No. 4 seed Alleghany (12-2) to face a Trojan team that finished second in Conference 1A / 2A Mountain Valley for 2A West Wilkes.

The winners of both games will face each other in Thursday’s second round of playoffs.
