Stanly football games canceled due to COVID; North Stanly will play on Friday – The Stanly News & Press

State athletic protocols for COVID-19 changed Friday’s football schedule for some Stanly high school football teams.

Albemarle’s first home game on Friday against Yadkin Valley Conference opponent North Moore was canceled, as was next week’s road game in North Rowan. The Bulldogs opened the season last Friday with a defeat at Chatham Central.

North Stanly was notified this week that the opening of the Comets season in Chatham Central had been canceled. The Comets had originally been scheduled to play at West Stanly the previous Friday, but the game was also canceled.

North was scheduled to open the season on March 12 at home against South Davidson, but since North Moore was not playing Albemarle, the Comets and Mustangs decided on Wednesday to play their conference game tomorrow night. The two teams will play a game outside the conference on April 1.
