Many would say that Stanford Cardinal is the best team in the country and the favorite to win the tournament, even above UConn. However, Stanford looked shaken his last time and had to recover from a 12 point disadvantage against Louisville, his biggest return in each of the past four seasons. South Carolina Gamecocks are not offensively offensive and do not have a player who can take control of a game for long periods on that side of the floor, but they are defensive elite and are allowing an average of 48.5 points in this tournament. South Carolina retained Texas with 34 points, with 23% of field shots. South Carolina took UConn into overtime on the road in February, so this club has shown that it can face first-rate opponents.
