St. Joseph Health receives additional doses of Moderna, offering vaccine clinics by appointment only

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – St. Joseph Health says it has received additional doses of the Modern vaccine and will begin administering them to Phase 1B patients later in the week through a series of clinics.

Vaccine clinics will only be scheduled by appointment. Hospital officials say patients must make an appointment and receive confirmation to receive the Modern vaccine. Those without an appointment are being asked to register online for future vaccine allocations that St. Joseph receives.

In a press release on Sunday, St. Joseph Health said: “Health professionals and the first respondents were the first to receive the vaccine, as part of Phase 1a, as described by federal guidelines, to ensure that health systems are able to continue to provide care during the pandemic and beyond. St. Joseph Health is following CDC and state guidelines for vaccine prioritization, which include healthcare professionals who are most at risk due to where they work, as well as other factors. The phase 1b criteria include people of all ages with comorbidities and underlying conditions that place them at significantly greater risk.

At St. Joseph Health, safety is our priority, and we only administer vaccines that the FDA has recommended as safe and effective. While there are always unknowns when a new vaccine is developed – including the duration of protection, long-term safety or how the vaccine can respond to mutations in the future – sufficient data is available to know whether the vaccine offered is safe and should be encouraged. . “
