‘Squad’ member Rashida Tlaib says ‘Israel is a racist state’

Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., Criticized Israel as a “racist state” during an interview on “Democracy Now!” on Tuesday, while discussing the Palestinians’ low vaccination rate.

Hostess Amy Goodman mentioned that Israel is one of the most vaccinated countries in the world, with 20%, while Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank – where Tlaib has family members – reportedly have not received vaccines.

Asked to give her opinion, Tlaib said it is “important to understand that Israel is a racist state, as they would deny Palestinians like my grandmother access to a vaccine; that they do not believe she is an equal human being who deserves to live, deserves be protected by this global pandemic. ”

“It is very difficult to watch as this apartheid state continues to deny its own neighbors, the people who breathe the same air they breathe, who live in the same communities,” said Tlaib. “I hope our country will see what the Palestinians have been trying to tell us for a long time: that Israel has no intention of ever being considerate or allowing equality or freedom for them as its neighbors. And you can see that with the distribution of vaccines. ”

Tlaib said Israel has the power to distribute vaccines to the Palestinians, but his alleged refusal to do so illustrates what they are supposed to be: “an apartheid state”.

Data from a tracking website run by the University of Oxford shows that Israel has administered more COVID-19 vaccines than any other nation. Palestinians, however, were not included in the launch.
