After announcing an update to your mobile experience earlier this week, Spotify is now giving your desktop application a new look as well.
I usually open Spotify on my computer just to feel extremely overwhelmed with the homepage, which is a mix of things I’ve heard a million times, recommendations for things I don’t even know if I’m going to like, and those selected playlists that I usually I completely ignore it (except for Discover Weekly, which has been very good lately). The company announced Thursday, its new desktop and web design is based on “months of testing and research” and will offer a cleaner look, more controls and features similar to it is introduced in the mobile app.
First, the service is updating playlist controls, allowing you guys to upload images and write descriptions, and there are also a new search bar to find music and podcast episodes. Meanwhile, a new drop-down menu will give listeners the ability to rate content. And the best of allme, for those of us who often meet Googling lyrics of a song that we heard but couldn’t remember the title, the app is adding alist played efficiently and the ability to edit your queue.
A new search bar has been moved to the left side of the navigation page and users can now go directly to an artist or song radio by selecting the “…” button. Premium level subscribers can also download their playlists to listen offline with a highlight redesigned download button.

The new design will begin to be implemented for free and premium users starting today and will be widely available “in the coming weeks”.
