Sporting Kansas City joins the mourning for exceptional sports journalist Terez Paylor, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 37.
Paylor joined the Kansas City Star in 2006 after graduating from Howard University, and spent nearly 12 years as a leading sports news writer for the publication. He covered Sporting Kansas City from 2009 to 2012, notably reporting the club’s major brand change to Children’s Mercy Park.
Paylor, a voter in the Professional Football Hall of Fame, was Star’s primary writer for the 2013-2018 Kansas City Chiefs. He then became known nationally as a senior NFL copywriter for Yahoo! Sports in a role he held until his death.
Sporting Kansas City extends its deepest sympathy to Paylor’s family and friends.
It is with regret that we announce that our dear friend, colleague and Yahoo Sports journalist, Terez Paylor, has passed away.

I spent the day crying, laughing and staring at the void. Now I would like to say why I loved Terez Paylor so much. https://t.co/49UJEL96JZ
