Lush “Bridgerton” lovers are catapulting the Duke of Hastings’ spoon into social media stardom.
Critically acclaimed as the hottest inanimate object in show business, the tea shaker’s sensual encounter with the duke caused confusion in digital languages.
“I fantasize about being the duke’s spoon,” a Twitter user who doesn’t talk much said. “Normal People gave us Connell’s chain necklace, so @bridgerton said take my beer and give us the duke and that silver spoon,” another passed out online said.
Now the utensil of luck – hailed as the star of the hit Netflix period drama – has its own Instagram account.
Repeating the cyber madness unleashed last year by Connell Waldron’s network in the BBC adaptation of “Normal People”, the “Bridgerton” scoop stole the show when the duke, actor Regé-Jean Page, 31, seductively licked over tea with his future girlfriend Daphne Bridgerton, played by actress Phoebe Dynevor, 25.
With fans of the sexy scene foaming at the mouth, journalist Billie Bhatia launched the @TheDukesSpoon profile on Instagram in a spicy bow to the tempting totem.
Bhatia, the master curator behind the @ConnellsChain account, who boasts an impressive 178,000 followers, describes the @TheDukesSpoon page as: “A space dedicated not only to tempting cutlery, but also to charming (preferably loose) ties, sculpted abs and raised eyebrows to finish all raised eyebrows. “
Reaching nearly 4,000 followers in less than four days, @ TheDukesSpoon’s snapshots are provoking alleged objects of affection from the Duke, leaving comments like: “[This is the] first time I was jealous of a spoon ”and“ I hope to return as a spoon in my second life ”.
A word of caution, my tongue-hungry friends: before sneaking into the DMs of @TheDukesSpoon, remember, Lady Whistledown is always watching.
