“The Masked Dancer” is one of our new favorite shows from 2021. We don’t get tired and we love to watch famous people in heavy costumes doing difficult dance moves. In the first episode of season 1, which aired on December 30, five celebrities danced and four of them made the cut; Disco Ball was unmasked to reveal the rapper who became an Ice-T actor (“Law & Order: SVU”).
We’ve been busy since that debut scouring the tracks and performance videos and we have all the spoilers for “The Masked Dancer”, including the identity of the group’s most energetic dancer, Tulip, who will perform again on January 20.
In episode 1, Tulipa impressed us with her extravagant set of feet for “Fergalicious” by Fergie. The four judges (Paula Abdul, Brian Austin Green, Ken Jeong, Ashley Tisdale) were wrong with their Charli D’Amelio, Ariana Grande or Heather Morris. The only word Tulipa said to herself was “triple”. as a threat.
We didn’t hear Tulip’s real voice during the video of the tracks, when she said, “Hey, guys, I thought I wouldn’t have anything to talk about in this video. But then I found this gem. I don’t want this to sound like one of those stories of good guys and bad guys. But growing up, I was teased all the time. – I’m allergic to you. – You smell like dirt. ‘OK, bloomer.’ My confidence fell. But I tried my best not to put trolls on my head. I packed my things and found a new, sunnier place to call home. People were relaxed with the strange things about me. For the first time, I felt that I could really breathe and be myself. Tonight my dance is dedicated to anyone trying to find their place in the world. After all, we’re all in this together. “

All of this plus the visual cues that accompany us tell us that Tulipa is Mackenzie Ziegler, who became famous on the reality show “Dance Moms”. Tulip’s finger-tapping skills convinced her that she is a trained dancer. Mackenzie and her older sister Maddie Ziegler, achieved fame in this longtime reality show from 2011; we even saw the number “11” in a box.
Another visual clue was a ticket to travel from AL to DC. While it is tempting to think of it as a suggestion for a trip from Alabama to the nation’s capital, these are also the initials of Abby Lee Dance Company, who was at the heart of “Dance Moms”.

We dismissed the hypothesis that Tulip was Maddie because the tracks fit Mackenzie so well. She is a sensation in TikTok, which is suggested by the alarm clock and the signal that Tulip gives when finishing her number. And she starred on the stage “The Wizard of Oz”, which was referenced by Tulip’s ruby shoes that she clicked three times.
Finally, Mackenzie uses the abbreviated form “Mack”, as in the macaroni and cheese dish that we see in the video.
