Did you have enough time to recover from the Splatoon 3 hype after yesterday’s Nintendo Direct? Well, because we’re about to dive a little deeper.
With Splatoon 3 and Splatoon 2 being released on the same system, it may seem that there is not much difference between the two, but early signs suggest that the new entry will have several new features that should keep the series veterans more than intrigued.
Nintendo shared a topic on Twitter, going over some of the more subtle details of the game, acting on behalf of the ‘Squid Research Lab’ and discussing the ‘video broadcast’ – that is, the direct trailer above. We have shared all the new information for you below:
Splatsville and Splatlands
“Here we see Splatsville, the newly discovered“ city of chaos ”. It looks dated, but it seems densely populated. Research indicates that the development of Splatsville has accelerated rapidly since the Final Splatfest, a year and a half ago, although it is located far from Inkopolis. “

“We learned that Splatsville is located in a wider region called Splatlands. It seems that the intense sun and the hostile environment have had a profound effect on its inhabitants. In recent years, the trend-setting Inklings have been attracted to this culture like moths by a Beak of Bunsen! “
Gameplay

“Even in the Splatlands, the Inklings seem devoted to the popular pastime of Turf War. The ground rules seem unchanged – two teams of four compete to mark most of the terrain. However, the inhabitants of Splatsville seem to have taken their battles into the forests. surrounding nature! “
“In Splatlands, Inklings seem to favor entering the battlefield by launching themselves out of some kind of spawner drone into the air. It looks like they might even choose their landing spot before flying into action!”
“We have identified two new ways to move inklings. A” squid roll “allows them to jump and spin out of their ink, and a” squid wave “allows them to swim quickly through the paint-covered walls and jump on top! Think about how these skills can be used in the heat of battle … “
Personalization (and pets?)

“It is no secret that Inklings and Octolings can organize their tentacles in various” hair styles “. However, it seems that these wonderful creatures are capable of more complex designs than those previously known. Just look at this Inkling .. . He has a braid! What a day for science. “
“In the new video stream, an Inkling is seen accompanied by a juvenile Salmonid called Smallfry. Our studies have shown that Salmonids are a dangerous species. How this apparently symbiotic relationship has evolved is an exciting mystery. More research is needed!”
Weapons, new and old

“We also discovered a new weapon in the shape of an arc. It looks a little primitive at first glance, but on closer inspection, it is full of technology, including a mechanism capable of releasing three strands of paint simultaneously!”
“In the video stream, we also saw some special weapons! In addition to a new one, some look like reconfigured versions of special weapons found in Inkopolis. As perfectly suited for the city of chaos …”
“The classic main weapons seem viable in the Splatlands, although their appearance seems to have evolved to suit this unique culture. The .96 Gal and Range Blaster look very different from what we are used to, which will make them stand out more than other weapons of the same type. “
This 2022 launch window looks like ages though, isn’t it?
