Spider-Man fan art launches Giancarlo Esposito as Miles Morales

Fan artist Oscar Romero created an older version of Miles Morales, using Giancarlo Esposito from Mandalorian as inspiration for his work.

Giancarlo Esposito is best known for playing villains, by Gus Fring in Breaking Bad for Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian. Now, a new piece of fan art has finally put him in the role of a hero, specifically Miles Morales from Marvel Comic.

Artist Oscar Romero recently posted his illustration on Instagram, which shows Esposito in Morales’ iconic red and black Spider-Man suit. “New painting! Giancarlo Esposito like old Miles Morales. I had fun painting this one and I am very happy with the result. It would be great to see Giancarlo playing Miles as an older Spider-Man”, caption Romero to the post.

This illustration is not the first time that fans have seen old Miles. Miles Morales: the end # 1, current Miles Morales: Spider-Man writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Damion Scott also advanced decades into the future to showcase an older Morales. There, an elderly Miles Morales – who happened to be the mayor of Brooklyn – kept peace alongside his superpowered friends and companions.

Morales’ character was created in 2011 by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli. Miles gained fame with his 2018 solo series and animated film Spider-Man: In the Spider-Verse. Miles also starred in the next generation game of 2020 Marvel Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Direction by Joaquim Dos Santos, sequence of Spider-Man: In the Spider-Verse hits theaters on October 7, 2022.
