“My career was as rewarding as I could have imagined when I graduated from law school in 1975,” said Durham in a statement. “Much of that satisfaction came from all the people with whom I had the blessing to share this workplace and from our law enforcement partner agencies. My love and respect for this office and the vitally important work done here has never diminished. “
His resignation from the United States prosecutor’s office is part of the Biden government’s process of replacing prosecutors appointed by the Trump administration, a common rotation at the beginning of a new government.
Durham was first appointed to the post by Trump in 2018. Before becoming a US attorney, Durham served as an assistant attorney in various capacities in the Connecticut District for 35 years.
He will be replaced as an actor by the first US assistant attorney, Leonard Boyle.
“The Office will be in the extraordinarily capable hands of Len and our excellent oversight team who, together, ensure that the proper administration of justice will continue uninterrupted in our district,” said Durham.
