South Florida man suffers an impressive tragedy after parents, brother die within days

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Florida. – A tragedy involves a family from Palm Beach County after a mother, father and son died after contracting COVID-19.

Eric Sherman went through the unthinkable after losing his closest family.

On January 1, he lived with his parents and brother.

And now, a month later, he is the only one who is still alive.

When Sherman fell ill just before the new year, he had no idea it was COVID-19, nor did he know it would change his life forever.

“I basically thought I had a bad flu or something,” he said. “I got so weak and started to have a fever and you’re so weak, but you can’t even go to the bathroom.”

Sherman lived with his mother and father, Leslie and Douglas, and his older brother, Marc, all with pre-existing medical conditions.

When all four fell ill, they all went to the hospital. Only Sherman’s mother and brother were admitted.

As he and his father recovered at home, Leslie and Marc’s conditions slowly declined.

“They spent the first three weeks in the ICU, you can’t talk to them, you get the same status calls and the only time you really get a change in calls is when the chaplain calls or the doctor calls and has to say that it spreads, ”said Sherman.

First, Sherman’s brother passed away on Tuesday, January 26, and then his mother died just about 24 hours later.

He and his father started preparing for Sun’s funeral. January 31, but early in the morning, just hours before the funeral, Sherman found his father dead in his bathroom after a heart attack caused by what Sherman said was a broken heart.

“All I know so far is that they were three of the purest-hearted people you could have met on this planet,” he said. “It is tragic and I could only hope that there would be more births today with pure-hearted children to replace them.”

Sherman said his parents were beloved teachers and his brother was a baseball and wrestling genius who would turn 50 a week starting on Wednesday.
