South Carolins seriously hate the new state flag design

South Carolina’s attempt to standardize its much-loved state flag fell flatter than a palm tree in a hurricane. Since Post and Courier With historians’ new design unveiled this week, residents of the state of Palmetto inundated the newspaper with hate letters. “They really hate it,” wrote the newspaper. The design has a slightly darker shade of indigo behind the iconic growing palm heart – but the tree, based on a 1910 local artist’s sketch, is what bothers most. Some said its leaves looked like Freddy Krueger’s murderous fingers, others thought he was addicted to meth. In a non-scientific Twitter poll, 30 percent said it was “total rubbish”. In response, historians said they would review their bill before lawmakers voted on it next year.
