South Carolina’s top CBs Jaycee Horn, Israel Mukuamu choose not to focus on the NFL draft

South Carolina’s two top cornerbacks, Jaycee Horn and Israel Mukuamu, dropped out less than 48 hours after coach Will Muschamp’s resignation last weekend.

Horn announced that he was starting to prepare for the NFL draft on Monday. Mukuamu, which Todd McShay of ESPN calls the number 4 cornerback available, announced his decision on Tuesday.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. lists Horn, son of former NFL wide receiver Joe Horn, as the sixth best cornerback eligible for draft. Horn leaves Gamecocks with the most interceptions (2) and pass separations (6) in the team this season.

Interim coach Mike Bobo also announced on Tuesday that defender RJ Roderick and striker Makius Scott will choose to stay out until the end of the season.

South Carolina dropped to 2-5 after a loss to Ole Miss on Saturday.

The Gamecocks, who host Missouri this weekend, have three games remaining from the regular season.
