South Carolina’s Chick-fil-A manager drives the COVID-19 vaccine drive-thru after backup

A coronavirus vaccine, coming.

The mayor of a South Carolina city knew exactly who to call when a COVID-19 drive-thru vaccination site was full – the manager of a local Chick-fil-A.

On Friday, a computer failure caused a backup at a vaccine clinic in Mount Pleasant, leaving people stranded for up to an hour, reports KLUV. In a stroke of genius, the Mayor of Mount Pleasant, Will Haynie, contacted Jerry Walkowiak, manager of a local Chick-fil-A, requesting reinforcements to help with the reorganization.

Haynie accepted the mission and got things moving quickly, according to WSB-TV.

In a quick clip that the mayor shared on Twitter, Walkowiak stood in the rain with an umbrella, signaling a car to move on.

“Do you already have your paperwork? It will help you right there,” said the manager, directing the vehicle to another worker. The images of the good deed have gone viral, accumulating more than 13,000 views since they hit the Internet on January 22.
