The Missouri Tigers are flexing their muscles against the South Carolina Gamecocks, showing why they were favorites to win all the time. After three quarters, it’s looking more and more like Mizzou’s powerful attack is too much for the USC, as the Tigers lead 17-3.

No one had an offensive standout game for Mizzou, but they got scores from RB Larry Rountree III and WR Tauskie Dove. The team received extra help from the defensive threat LB Nick Bolton and his ten tackles.

The USC has relied on RB Kevin Harris, who has gone up 58 yards in 16 races, and QB Luke Doty, who has gone up 38 yards on the ground.

Mizzou’s leadership is tied with the biggest they have had this season going into the fourth period.

What to know

The Missouri Tigers have had a week off and are undoubtedly ready to return to the field. The South Carolina Tigers and Gamecocks will face off in a SEC battle at 7:30 pm ET, Saturday, at Williams-Brice Stadium. Both teams lost in their last game, so they will have enough motivation to get the ‘W.’

Mizzou was expected to have a rough life three weeks ago, and, well, they did. They suffered a terrible 41-17 loss to the Florida Gators. Mizzou was losing 34-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was too much to recover. QB Connor Bazelak played a memorable game, but not in the way you’d like to be remembered: in addition to not being able to produce a single touchdown, he messed up the ball once with just 5.2 yards per passing attempt.

Meanwhile, USC received a heavy blow last week, when it fell 59-42 to the Ole Miss Rebels. USC may have lost, but man – RB Kevin Harris was a total machine. He ran for five TDs and 243 yards in 25 races. Harris’ performance compensated for a slower competition against Texas A&M Aggies two weeks ago. Not surprisingly, Harris’ sharp performance defined his racing touchdown in a single high game for the season.

Mizzou is the favorite in this match, with an expected winning margin of 6 points. Those who were burned when selecting them against the spread of three weeks ago should keep in mind that the team has not yet lost consecutive games against the spread this season.

The Tigers had enough points to win and then some against the Gamecocks when the two teams faced each other in September last year, taking their clash 34-14. Will Mizzou repeat his success or does USC have a better game plan this time around? We will find out soon.
