The South Carolina men’s basketball season will resume on Saturday afternoon after two separate instances of suspension of the team’s activities in December. Gamecocks (1-2) will host Florida A&M, their first home game of the season, at 1 pm at Colonial Life Arena. It will be Carolina’s first dispute since losing at the time – not 10 Houston on December 5.

GAMECOCK NOTES
– In their most recent presentation, Gamecocks maintained the lead at the interval on the road at No. 10 Houston (December 5), however, the Cougars fought in the second half and closed a 77-67 victory. Forward Junior Justin Minaya hit all three attempts beyond the arc and took Carolina with 13 points in defeat.
– Top scorer Jermaine Couisnard reached double digits in all three games this season. He had 10 against Liberty and No. 10 Houston, and led the Gamecocks with 20 in the November 29 victory against Tulsa. He leads the team with 13.3 points per game, entering the Florida A&M clash.
– Redshirt second guard TJ Moss has been strong in the offensive end to start the season. He hit 6 out of 10 attempts on the ground, 3 out of 4 in the 3-point range and gave a total of five assists.
– In the first three games, Carolina’s bank averages 22.0 points per game, led by Moss’s 6.3 points per game.

SCOUTING THE RATTLERS
– Florida A&M is 1-5 in the season entering Saturday’s clash against the Gamecocks. The Rattlers are led by coach Robert McCullum in his fourth season. McCullum faced the Gamecocks once during his career, when he was the head coach in South Florida. The team met outside the conference with Carolina posting a 72-70 victory over the USF on December 14, 2004. Gamecock highlight Renaldo Balkman 7 on the field 11 and led Carolina with 17 points in that victory.
– Florida A&M last played on December 18, suffering a 74-64 road loss at Georgia Tech. The Rattlers’ only win of the year came in a 76-70 road win at Austin Peay on December 15. A&M played all six games on the road this season.
– Junior guard MJ Randolph surpasses the Rattlers with 16.2 points per game this season, while leading the team in assists (4.0) and steals (2.0) per game. Randolph set his career record with 27 points, hitting 11 out of 15 shots on the floor in the win over Austin Peay.
