Head coach of South Carolina Gamecocks in first year Shane Beamer made an initial lease. According to a report by Matt Zenitz of al.com, Gamecocks are is expected to hire the Maryland recruiting operations director, Taylor Edwards.
As Zenitz points out, Taylor helped Maryland build a recruiting class that currently ranks 18th nationally in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He previously worked in Alabama and Arkansas.
Head coach of Edwards and Terrapins Mike Locksley worked together in Alabama. As Jeff Ermann of InsideMDSports pointed out in December “You won’t see his name in many recruiting articles, but he quietly helps lay the groundwork for Maryland’s recruiting efforts, organizing and conducting visits, contacting recruits, and serving as Locksley’s recruiting concierge. “
Speaking during the initial signing period, Locksley made a point of highlighting the efforts of Taylor and other employees.
“Relationship building is about two years old and when we took over in 19 and knowing how big the class this area was locally, as well as our ability to continue to extend across the country to get players, we put a lot of emphasis of emphasis on this, “said Locksley.” And the team with Taylor Edwards. Will Christopherson, Marcus Berry, Shelton Ely did an excellent job on that side, as did our technical team. That, you know, recruiting is a collective effort and you’re only as good as the guys you have on your program to help sell you. “
