BLUFFTON, SC (AP) – An 18-year-old senior student was shot dead on a South Carolina highway, officials said.
Murder warrants were issued against a 17- and 19-year-old in the murder of D’won “DJ” Fields Jr. on Friday night in Bluffton, but they were not arrested, police said.
Emergency workers sent to a vehicle accident on Bluffton Parkway found Fields shot to death and two others injured, Bluffton Police said in a statement.
Ty Leic Dae Jhon Channeyfield, 17, and Jimmie Green, 19, are wanted for murder and other charges and have not been arrested, police said.
Two other teenagers were detained in custody after murder charges and remain in prison on $ 1 million bail, officials said.
The police did not give the reason for the shooting.
Fields was a football player at Bluffton High School and his teammates and other athletes and coaches at his school took a vigil in his honor last weekend.
