South Carolina state fair accepts grant applications> Columbia Business Report

Three hundred thousand dollars in South Carolina State Fair Ride of Your Life scholarships are up for grabs for students planning to attend SC colleges.

Fifty $ 6,000 scholarships will be awarded to students in the last year of high school in SC, who will receive $ 1,500 per year for four years. Students pursuing two-year degrees will also receive $ 1,500 a year, according to a press release.

“Education is the mission of the fair, and we feel strongly that it is extremely important to continue our scholarship program this year, although the pandemic has greatly affected the SC State Fair in 2020,” said Nancy Smith, general manager of the state fair, in the statement. “We know that students will need extra funding for college more than ever.”

The state fair featured drive-through exhibitions and food vendors in 2020.

Scholarships must be used at a SC university, college or educational institution and can be used to cover tuition or other expenses, including on-campus accommodation or supplies such as computers and textbooks.

The criteria include academic and extracurricular performance, communication skills and needs.

Entries must be completed at scstatefair.org by March 15 and winners will be notified in mid-May.

Recipients must maintain a GPA 3.0 and enroll for at least 30 credit hours each academic year.
