Corey Fields pitched for 175 yards and a touchdown to lead the state of South Carolina, overtaking the state of Delaware by 17 to 9 on Saturday, at an opening of the Middle East Athletic Conference for both teams.
Fields connected with 11-yard Tyrece Nick to close the score with 3:19 to the end.
Nick had six receptions for 45 yards, and Shaquan Davis added five receptions for 52 yards for the state of South Carolina (1-1), which plays against SWAC member Alabama on April 3.
Dillon Bredesen hit a 22-yard field goal to give the Bulldogs a 10-9 lead at halftime.
Jared Lewis passed 106 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the state of Delaware (1-1). Thomas Bertrand-Hudon ran for 84 yards and Bizzet Woodley had a 33-yard touchdown.
