The state of South Carolina is literally boring for an ACC school player.
Former Wake Forest runner Kendrell Flowers has committed to SC State. He announced the change on his Sunday afternoon.
“I am happy to announce that I will be participating in an HBCU and competing this spring at SCSU, ‘wrote Flowers. “I thank everyone who was with me during this process and I intend to be the best product that has ever worn a Bulldog uniform.”
Flowers dropped out of last season in August after appearing in two games as a real freshman for the Demon Deacons in 2019. This makes him eligible to play for the Bulldogs in the spring of 2021.
The Columbia, SC native was rated a three-star prospect by 247 Sports, Rivals and ESPN, and was considered the sixth best contender in the state’s 2018 class.
The state of South Carolina has a tradition of great RBs
He will join a team from the state of South Carolina looking to build an 8-3 performance in 2019, which saw him win a part of the MEAC title alongside North Carolina A&T. A&T broke the tie between the two schools, then went to the Celebration Bowl, while SC State had to root for an FCS proposal that never came.
As for Flowers’ aspiration to be “the best product that ever wore a Bulldog uniform”, it is high. SC State currently has four players selected for the Professional Football Hall of Fame. Only in the running back position is HOF Marion Motley and then three of the seven best backs in MEAC history.
But it’s great to have big goals, and Buddy Pough is sure to get the most out of it.
