South Carolina school principal Henry Darby works the night shift at Walmart to help students

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – Moved by the need to help his students, the director of a high school in South Carolina got a part-time job at Walmart and donated his salary to those in need.

Henry Darby, director of North Charleston High School, is considered the guardian angel of his community.

“A few years ago, I had two students, who were women, sleeping under the bridge. There was another situation where a former student of mine and her daughter slept in the car and another situation in which a former student needed funds for her bills. of water and light, “he told WCIV-TV.

Understanding the big picture, Darby took action. He started working at Walmart three nights a week, stocking the shelves from 10 pm to 7 am

“I learned that if your hands find something to do, do it. Then I came to me and said, ‘Maybe I need another job in terms of part time,'” he said.

He said that one of his students recognized him on his first night at work.

“Someone shouted, ‘Hey, Mr. Darby, are you working for Walmart? Isn’t it the director? ‘ And that surprised me, so at that moment I said, ‘That’s it, I’ll do what I need to do,’ he said.

His decision to get up and deliver resulted in nearly $ 100,000 in donations from around the country.

Now that Darby’s story has gone viral, Walmart donated $ 50,000 to North Charleston High School.
