South Carolina restaurant staff receive a $ 2,000 tip with a note left by a “regular” customer

A restaurant in South Carolina recently received a generous cash tip from one of its regular customers.

Workers at Eggs Up Grill, based in Greenville, shared $ 2,021 earlier this month, which the unnamed customer left in an envelope. The customer did not wait to see the server discover the bonus, Eggs Up Grill managing partner Adam Bair told Fox News via email.

“The gentleman who left the tip is a regular who comes at least 6 days a week,” wrote Bair. “The gentleman paid for his $ 10 meal and left the envelope with the money and the note, without waiting for his waiter to open the envelope. We tried to reach him in the parking lot to thank him, but he was already gone.”

Four servers at the McAlister Square site received $ 400 each, according to the instructions left in the customer’s tip note. The remaining money was divided among the Eggs Up Grill team based on hours worked.

“All the employees were very grateful and overwhelmed by the gesture,” added Bair. “We have never received such a significant tip before. We have been in the market for almost three years.”

The customer who left the tip left regular bonuses for employees at the time he attended the restaurant for breakfast and lunch.

According to Bair, the gentleman “always gave a good tip”. During the pandemic, the customer even tipped kitchen staff several times, usually around $ 5 for each cook.

Although the restaurant has received tips from this gracious customer before, the team was shocked when they received the $ 2,021 tip on Friday, January 15, which was left at closing time.

“It was very surprising. It had a huge impact on all of us, above the monetary value,” explained Bair. “It made the servers feel appreciated during a very turbulent period with COVID. Their tips fell tremendously and I know the money was badly needed. It was just in time.”

Likewise, Eggs Up Grill marketing manager Laura Boles told Fox News that she believes the customer’s tip is a testament to the service level of the restaurant chain.

“[The staff] we work so hard every day to put a smile on the face of every person who enters the restaurant, “noted Boles.” The incredible generosity of this guest means a lot to this team that has faced truly unprecedented moments in the last year. “
