South Carolina RB Deshaun Fenwick enters the transfer portal

South Carolina red shirt, sophomore, running back Deshaun Fenwick entered the transfer portal, 247Sports learned. Fenwick was a former three-star recruit for 247Sports Composite and ranked number 15 running back in the 2018 recruiting class.

This season, Fenwick appeared in eight games for the Gamecocks, totaling 297 run yards in 54 runs (5.5 yards per load) with a touchdown. He also took 14 passes for 108 yards.

Prior to the 2020 season, Fenwick had only appeared in four games in the previous two seasons for South Carolina. He will be leaving the show running for a total of 523 yards with two touchdowns.

The NCAA launched the portal on October 15, 2018, offering athletes a way to explore their options. Players do not need to ask the technical team for permission to make the transfer. They just need to ask compliance to enter their name. It usually takes 24 to 48 hours for a player to show up after ordering. Schools are free to contact a player without restriction, as their name appears on the portal.

Although a player entering his name on the transfer portal means that he intends to explore his options, it does not necessarily mean that he will leave. The player is free to withdraw his name at any time. However, schools are under no obligation to keep a player on scholarship once they enter the portal.
