South Carolina raises rule for mandatory masks in restaurants

Governor Henry McMaster announced that the mandatory order for restaurant masks has been suspended, and facial coverage is now recommended, according to a press release from the governor’s office.

The new order also suspends facial coverage security measures previously mandatory in state government offices, buildings and facilities, and authorizes the South Carolina Department of Administration to put the guidelines into effect, in consultation with the Department of Environmental and Health Control. SC Health (DHEC), regarding it (Section 2-B).

The new order modifies existing emergency requests related to the COVID-19 pandemic and initiates the process of facilitating the return of remaining state employees back to the workplace on a full-time basis.

Governor McMaster said: “Now that the majority of Southern Carolinians are eligible to receive the vaccine, and infections and hospitalizations have dropped significantly, heads of state agencies can safely bring back the last group of civil servants who work remotely” .
