The COVID-19 virus continues to affect women’s basketball teams’ schedules, including at the SEC, where both Vanderbilt and Ole Miss are dealing with recent positive tests, contact tracking and quarantine.
South Carolina’s No. 5 home game for Thursday against the Rebels has been postponed, and the Gamecocks will now open their league season that day against Florida. The Gators were scheduled to face the Commodores on Thursday.
So far, Ole Miss has only postponed her game with South Carolina, but is scheduled to play on January 4 against LSU. However, Vanderbilt postponed his next three games: against Florida on Thursday, in the 12th state of Mississippi on Sunday and in Missouri on January 7.
Meanwhile, at the Missouri Valley Conference, number 24 in the state of Missouri had its two games in Northern Illinois, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, postponed because of positive tests on the state’s Missouri program.
The ACC also announced a schedule change for this week involving a ranked team: No. 2 Louisville will host North Carolina on Friday. The teams were scheduled to play on December 13, but Louisville took a break on December 11 because of the virus. The Cardinals have not played since defeating Duke on 9 December. The Blue Devils announced last weekend that they were ending their season because of concerns about COVID-19.
