Shane BeamerThe first spring training session as a head coach for the South Carolina Gamecocks is scheduled for Saturday morning.
On Thursday, he will meet with reporters for a preview of what is happening in the coming weeks for the South Carolina football team. One of the most intriguing stories to follow is the return of SeaShawn Lloyd, who suffered an ACL break on the second day of pre-season camp last season.
According to Lloyd’s profile on GamecocksOnline, he will be limited during the spring. Lloyd is working to compete for a spot alongside 1,000-yard rusher Kevin Harris.
Defensive back Joey hunter has had foot surgery after his first season, so he will also be limited this spring. His profile does not indicate in which position he will play in Clayton White’s secondary.

It is noted in Zaquandre Whiteprofile that he is currently listed as a back runner. White played on both sides of the ball last season. In addition, as a redshirt freshman in Florida State in 2018, he went from running back to linebacker.
Eric Shaw has similar text in your profile. He started last season as a tight end, before moving on to the linebacker at one point before finishing. At the start of his second year in Columbia, Shaw is back in the grip.
Running back Bruce Staley, who is the linebacker’s cousin Damani Staley, you will miss spring training because of knee surgery. Then go Jesse Sanders, a progressive fullback. Sanders arrived last year as a three-star tight end at South Aiken High School. He tore an ACL.
Bradley Dunn, another fullback who joined the team in 2020, “will compete for a role in attack and special teams” in 2021, according to his GamecocksOnline profile.
Over the years, injuries have limited safety Jaylin Dickerson and edge defender Tyreek Johnson. Both profiles note that they received a sixth year of eligibility, and that does not count the extra season. Because of Covid, each guy could play college football by 2023.
There is no definitive answer to the current health of any player, before the start of spring training. The same can be said of several players, including linebackers. Jahmar Brown, Rosendo Louis and Sherrod Greene, in addition to wide receivers Randrecous Davis and OrTre Smith, both chose to leave last season, because of Covid’s concerns.
