WASHINGTON, DC (WMBF) – The positivity rate of the test for COVID-19 in South Carolina is among the highest in the country, according to a new White House report.

The January 3 report shows that South Carolina is in the red zone for cases, indicating 101 or more new cases per 100,000 inhabitants. It is the 24th highest rate in the country.

South Carolina is also in the red zone for the test’s positivity, indicating a rate equal to or greater than 10.1%, with the ninth highest rate in the USA, according to the report. It was listed as 19.7%.

“South Carolina has seen a decrease in new cases, but this is due to significant drops in testing,” says the report. “The increase in testing positivity and the increase in new COVID admissions are consistent with the active and expanding spread of the community.”

The report states that South Carolina’s new cases per 100,000 inhabitants are below the national average of 413. Palmetto State had 371 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

“Do not delay the rapid immunization of people over 65 and vulnerable to serious illnesses; recommend the creation of high-performance vaccination sites with the use of EMT staff to monitor potential anaphylaxis and fully use nursing students, ”recommends the report. “No vaccine should be in freezers, but instead, it should be put on the guns now; active and aggressive immunization in the face of this increase would save lives. “
