South Carolina game 2 recap. Mercer: Gamecocks blank Bears 4-0

South Carolina won another victory in the series on Saturday, remaining unbeaten, despite yet another day of colder offensive production.

Gamecocks entered the board early, with a 3-0 lead in the first inning. With one eliminated, Josiah Sightler went out into the yard to make it 1-0. Then, with two eliminated, David Mendham, Andrew Eyster and Braylen Wimmer all walked, before Joe Satterfield passed with a two-race duo.

The only other race in the game came in the seventh inning, when Brady Allen chose to start things, then later scored in a double Mendham RBI.

USC starter Brannon Jordan had a really strong performance, working five entries and allowing only one hit and zero runs, while walking three hitters and eliminating 11, a career record. He won the victory and is 1-0. Jackson Phipps, Will Sanders and Brett Kerry also launched in this game. Bears holder Taylor Lobus took the defeat and is now 1-2. Allen led the Gamecocks on the board with two hits, while Satterfield registered two RBIs.

With the victory, South Carolina improves to 9-0 this season, while Mercer drops to 3-6. The Cocks will go to the sweep on Sunday, with the first pitch scheduled for noon at Founders Park. Julian Bostic is set to start on the mound for the home team.
