COLOMBIA, SC – New South Carolina coach Shane Beamer is keeping Mike Bobo as an offensive coordinator and defender coach.
Bobo was among seven assistants named Sunday by Beamer for his first team. Hiring has yet to be approved by the school’s board of directors, which will meet on January 4.
Along with Bobo, Beamer retained running back coach Des Kitchings, defensive line coach Tracy Rocker and coach of external linebackers Mike Peterson of Will Muschamp’s team. Muschamp was fired in November.
Beamer appointed former Ball State coach Pete Lembo as associate coach and special team coordinator, Will Friend of Tennessee as offensive line coach and former South Carolina defender Erik Kimrey as tight end coach.
Beamer said another former Gamecocks defender, Connor Shaw, who had been Muschamp’s director of player development, will return to another role off the field to be determined.
