COLOMBIA, SC (AP) – Authorities said a South Carolina student was arrested and charged with illegally owning 90 weapons, including assault rifles. Edward Daniel Kimpton Jr. was charged on Tuesday with electronic fraud, postal fraud and illegal possession of machine guns. The Midlands Technical College student was arrested on Friday. Authorities said Kimpton bought firearms, bullets and tactical equipment from online vendors, but would later contest the sale, saying he never received the items. Authorities found 90 weapons, more than 20,000 bullets and five shock stocks when they searched Kimpton’s properties. Authorities also found that Kimpton was researching mass shootings. Kimpton’s lawyer said he would continue to seek bail for his client.
