The South Carolina basketball team announced on Wednesday that it had signed striker Ta’Quan Woodley of Camden, New Jersey.

Woodley (6 ft-7, 215 pounds) signed with Gamecocks after recently withdrawing an appointment with Penn State.

Frank Martin and South Carolina were able to resume Woodley’s recruitment after the dismissal of Penn State coach Pat Chambers. Woodley is rated a 3-star prospect by both Rivals and 247 Sports.

“We are excited to add Ta’Quan Woodley to our autograph class,” said Martin in a statement. “… Ta’Quan is someone we had recruited before, and when he made himself available, we left immediately. He is a high-level rebound who plays with exceptional strength and offensive ability. Ta’Quan knows how to pass, how to score and plays with a brute force that is very necessary for our team. “

Woodley took his school to a 29-1 record last season and chose South Carolina over offers from Georgia, Temple, Rutgers, St. Johns and others.

Gamecocks’ 2021 autograph class includes Woodley, 6-4 Devin Carter and 6-2 Jacobi Wright. The USC also has a 6-5 commitment to Carlous Williams, who said he plans to sign on April 26.
