On Friday, February 26, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster announced that as of Monday, March 1, bars and restaurants will once again be able to sell alcoholic beverages until 2 am. Fernet wine or dose after the old 11pm restriction, which was implemented on July 11, 2020.
Many restaurant owners and bar owners are eager to get back the extra three hours of revenue. Merchants can accommodate customers with 100% capacity, but the mask law is still in effect.
Proof bar owner Craig Nelson says he will keep his seat at 50% capacity, but says that being able to stay open until 2 am will greatly increase your sales. He also says he is excited to see food and beverage workers back at his bar. With the old ban on sales of alcoholic beverages at 11 pm, many hospitality workers had no time to go to bars after their shifts ended.
