South Carolina Attorney General challenged to investigate domestic fraud

In what appears to be an attempt to cast a shadow over Republican lawmakers who challenge the legitimacy of the US elected president Joe BidenVictory at the electoral college in Washington, DC, Democrats in South Carolina are demanding an investigation into alleged electoral fraud at the state level.

Wait … Wasn’t the 2020 election in South Carolina a Republican prank?

Yes … it was a “red storm”, as we called it.

Still, the SC Democratic Party (SCDP) – which is being criticized (here, here and here) for its failures before the November elections – wants the SC’s attorney general Alan Wilson and a pair of “Republican” lawmakers to “open and conduct thorough investigations into electoral and electoral fraud in South Carolina.”

“This is the logical step after learning that several members of South Carolina (Congressional delegation) are planning to oppose the Electoral College because of their concerns about fraud and Attorney General Wilson’s decision to file a lawsuit in Texas which aims to annul the 2020 presidential election in the supreme court, ”noted a party statement.

In fact, Wilson did not join the Texas process. His office just joined other states in submitting a amicus curiae (or “friend of the court”), urging the supreme court to consider the case on the merits.

“You cannot claim electoral fraud only in the places where you lost,” president of SCDP Trav Robertson said in a statement. “My guess is that the reason that (members of the Congressional delegation) are screaming about electoral fraud is because they know how to commit fraud – so let’s find out. We agree with Attorney General Wilson that free and fair elections are the basis of democracy. That’s why, right now, we need AG Wilson to do a thorough audit of South Carolina’s voting and electoral systems, a bipartisan project capable of eliminating voters’ doubts about fraud. ”

The party also challenged the president of the Judiciary Committee of the Senate of SC Luke Rankin and committee of the judicial president of the Chamber of Deputies Chris Murphy to open investigations – although, as was the case with his Wilson request, no specific incident of electoral fraud accompanied the request.

Which begs the question: What exactly should Wilson, Rankin, and Murphy investigate?

Spokesperson for wilson Robert Kittle he said his agency would forward any legitimate and specific allegations of electoral fraud to the SC State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) for review.

“If there were credible allegations of electoral fraud here in South Carolina, and we haven’t heard of any, we would ask the State Law Enforcement Division to investigate them and report to us,” said Kittle. “Otherwise, it is not the function of our office to audit elections or to recount votes. The attorney general’s comment about protecting our voters and ensuring electoral integrity was about states where there were legal issues about how states’ voting procedures were changed. There are no such questions here in South Carolina. ”

Once again, we believe that this effort has less to do with discovering electoral fraud in the state of Palmetto and more with discrediting its delegation in Congress.

Four of the seven members of the South Carolina Congress – Jeff Duncan, Ralph Norman, William Timmons and Joe Wilson – oppose the Biden polling station’s certification this week. All four are Republicans. Two Republican congressmen from South Carolina – Nancy Mace and Tom Rice – they are not.

And obviously it’s not even Jim Clyburn, who more than anyone in Washington, DC is responsible for Biden’s unexpected victory in the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries.

Mace’s decision came as a surprise, as she had previously worked for Trump’s 2016 election campaign.

“I will solemnly cast my vote to certify the results of the Electoral College,” wrote Mace in an opinion editorial published in The (Charleston, SC) Post and Courier on Wednesday morning. “Certifying the results is the only way to preserve our republic and our Constitution. We must follow this course, even when we don’t like the result. Even when we hate the result. “

Our vision? As we said from the beginning, we believe that there are serious and credible questions about the validity of the 2020 election results – but the burden of proof lies with those who claim fraud. They must not only show where and how the irregularities occurred – but also how these irregularities changed the outcome of the race.

Unfortunately, much of that uncertainty could have been avoided if the strict postal voting safeguards we support had been in place for months.

That said, at the time of writing this document, we have seen nothing to suggest that there was any electoral irregularity in South Carolina during the 2020 election cycle. In the event of credible evidence or speculation to the contrary, we will certainly follow these lines of investigation – and we will encourage others to do the same.

Most importantly, we will continue to push for electoral reform that safeguards the integrity of the ballot box … as opposed to the politically malleable and dangerously irresponsible system currently in place.
