South Carolina and East Carolina agree to rescheduled game

South Carolina football was supposed to host East Carolina in 2020, but when the SEC came up with a schedule for all conferences, the game was canceled. The Gamecocks and Pirates have now agreed to play that game in Columbia in 2027.

According to fbschedules.com, South Carolina will now host East Carolina at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday, September 4, 2027, according to a copy of an amendment to the original contract obtained from the University of East Carolina by through a request for state public records.

The rescheduled game is part of a series of five games that the two schools agreed to play in 2014. The Gamecocks defeated the Pirates in the first two games in the series, 33-23 in 2014 and 20-15 in 2016, both in Columbia. East Carolina was supposed to host South Carolina in Greenville, NC in 2019, but the Gamecocks canceled the contest due to a limited number of home games because of a neutral website contest in Charlotte against North Carolina.

First year Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer will take his team to Greenville, NC, to play in East Carolina on September 11, 2021.

In addition to playing in East Carolina in 2027, Gamecocks will also host the Appalachian State and Clemson and will play in Miami. The dates for these four meetings outside the conference have not yet been announced.
