South Carolina adds transfer database

The South Carolina Gamecocks just made another transfer.

On Wednesday, defensive defense from Assumption College Carlins Platel announced his commitment to South Carolina. The 1.90 m tall, 190 pound fighter also received offers from the state of Mississippi, Coastal Carolina and Old Dominion.

Platel is due to graduate from Assumption in May. Over three seasons with the Greyhounds, he had 96 tackles, seven interceptions and 30 pass separations.

“I only have one year left, so I have to take everything into account,” Platel told 247Sports earlier this week.

“I am not a freshman or a transfer that is coming in several years. I am a graduate transfer, so I have to get into the best possible situation. I need to go somewhere that gives me the best opportunity to compete and play. I think this one it will be the best situation for me. ”

Leaving Everett High School in Massachusetts, Platel was an unqualified candidate in the class of 2017. As a freshman at Assumption, he was nominated for the NE10 All-Rookie Team, after registering 41 tackles and three interceptions.

In 2019, Platel’s last season on the pitch for Asunción, he was selected for the NE10 All-Conference First-Team. He finished with 21 tackles and two interceptions in 10 games.

The 1.8m high, 190 pound prospect entered the NCAA transfer portal last October. Murray State, Austin Peay, South Alabama and Central Connecticut State were also offered.

Platel is the fifth defensive back to join South Carolina’s 2021 signing class. The Gamecocks have signed Marcellas Dial and Isaiah Norris outside Georgia Military College. Southern Georgia cornerback David Spaulding transferred last month. La’Dareyen Craig (Mobile, Ala.) Announced that he would join them on National Signature Day.

Dial, Norris and Spaulding graduated from high school in 2019. The three will have four years to play three seasons in South Carolina. Dial and Spaulding are already registered.

Craig will graduate from Baker High School later this year. His eligibility clock will start when he reports to the Columbia campus.

Platel has two years to play his last season of eligibility. He is the eight transferred from a four-year school to enter South Carolina. Along with Spaulding, the others are wide receivers from Georgia Tech Ahmarean Brown, Saint Francis wide receiver EJ Jenkins, San Francisco Quarterback Jason Brown, State of Georgia outside the linebacker Jordan Strachan, Delaware Linebacker Darryl Williams and Nebraska defensive tackle Jahkeem Green.
