South Carolina adds productive Georgia state pass rusher

Aid is on its way to defend the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Jordan Strachan, who finished tied for first place in the country with 10.5 sacks this season, will transfer from the state of Georgia. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound external linebacker also had 41 tackles in total in 2020. He entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Tuesday.

Strachan recorded a layoff in seven of Georgia’s ten games in the past. His 2019 campaign was interrupted by a knee injury sustained in the Georgia state’s victory in Tennessee.

As a redshirt freshman in 2018, Strachan played in every game, four of which he started. He scored 36 tackles that season. Since the NCAA did not count 2020 against any player, Strachan could potentially have three years to play three seasons, if he eventually applied for a red medical shirt.

Leaving Camden County High School in Kingsland, Georgia, Strachan was a two-star recruit with no offers. This includes the state of Georgia, where he originally joined the team as a replacement.
