Sources – Texas Rangers negotiate SS Elvis Andrus with Oakland Athletics for hitter Khris Davis

Oakland Athletics is acquiring shortstop Elvis Andrus and another Texas Rangers player for designated hitter Khris Davis and a pair of candidates, sources confirmed to ESPN.

OA’s will also receive $ 13.5 million and minor league catcher Aramis Garcia in the deal, while catcher Jonah Heim and right-handed Dane Acker will go to Rangers.

Andrus, 32, was the longest-serving Ranger after 12 seasons and the only remaining player from his consecutive World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011.

Andrus played only 29 games last season because of persistent problems and only hit 0.194 with three home runs and seven RBIs. He owes $ 28.5 million over the next two seasons.

For his career, Andrus reached 0.274 with 76 homers, 636 RBIs and 305 steals.

Andrus plans to replace Marcus Semien on the shortstop, who signed a free-agent contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Davis, 33, has 218 career homers in eight seasons with the Brewers and A’s. In 2018 he led the MLB with 48 homers, but hit only two last season in 30 games.

For four consecutive seasons, Davis hit exactly 0.247 before dropping to 0.220 in 2019.

The trade was first reported by The Athletic.
