Sources – Oklahoma City Thunder swapping Hamidou Diallo for Detroit Pistons for Svi Mykhailiuk, second round pick

Oklahoma City Thunder agreed to replace guard Hamidou Diallo for the Detroit Pistons with guard Svi Mykhailiuk and a runoff choice in 2027, sources told ESPN on Friday.

The emergence of second-year point guard Lu Dort has made Diallo expendable, especially considering that he will be a restricted free agent this summer. The Pistons consider Diallo to be a future central player and plan to work to sign him off-season, the sources said.

Pistons general manager Troy Weaver was a Thunder executive when Diallo was chosen 45th in the 2018 NBA draft.

Diallo, 22, had average career records in scoring (11.9), rebounds (5.2), assists (4.2) and minutes (23.8) this season for Thunder.

The choice of the second round of 2027 for Oklahoma City will be via Houston Rockets, the sources said.

Mykhailiuk, 23, is considered a better positional fit along the Thunder’s perimeter, and he will have a chance to impress in Oklahoma City before becoming a restricted free agent this summer.

He was the 47th overall choice for the Lakers in the 2018 draft, arriving in Detroit in the middle of his debut season in an exchange. He has averaged 6.9 points per game this season – and 6.6 in his career.
