Defensive striker JJ Watt has received contract offers from several teams, ESPN league sources Dianna Russini said.
Multiple sources told Russini that the most lucrative offer that Watt currently has on the table is valued at between $ 15 million and $ 16 million.
The Browns are among the teams interested in Watt, according to ESPN and several reports, but it was unclear until Thursday morning whether Cleveland submitted an offer to the five-time Pro Bowler. Cleveland.com reported last week that Watt had some mutual interest in signing with the Browns.
The Texans launched Watt earlier this month, ending the NFL’s three-time Defense Player of the Year season in Houston.
At the time of its release, sources told ESPN that about a dozen teams – including the Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills – had already expressed interest in Watt.
Watt, who turns 32 next month, ended last season with five sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception that returned for a touchdown. He ranked 15th out of 119 pass-rushers qualified for the 2020 pass rush victory rate, according to ESPN Stats & Information, and ended his career in Texas as the all-time leader in the franchise with 101 layoffs.
