Source: Tavon Wilson, 49ers agree to a one-year free agency contract

The 49ers and veteran free agent Tavon Wilson agreed to a one-year contract, a league source confirmed to the NBC Sports Bay Area on Monday morning.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media was the first to report the news.

Currently, 49ers have a contract with free safety Jimmie Ward, along with Tarvarius Moore and Marcell Harris. Moore started eight games last season, while Harris started three games.

Jaquiski Tartt is a free agent. Tartt started every game in which he played for the 49ers since 2017, but started only 36 of the 64 possible games due to injuries.

Wilson, 31, is a trusted veteran who started his nine-year career with four seasons in New England. He entered the NFL as a 2012 Illinois runoff choice.

Wilson (6 feet, 208 pounds) recorded 383 tackles, eight interceptions, 20 defended passes, five sacks in his career.
