Source – New England Patriots, TE Hunter Henry agrees to $ 37.5 million deal for 3 years

The New England Patriots are hiring former Los Angeles Chargers player Hunter Henry for a three-year, $ 37.5 million deal, including a guaranteed $ 25 million, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Henry, who turned 27 in December, won over rookie defender Justin Herbert and had the best career result in 60 receptions for 613 yards and four touchdowns for the Chargers last season.

He now joins a Patriots team that is undergoing a pass capture review. On Monday, the team agreed to a total of almost $ 100 million in contracts for tight end Jonnu Smith and wide receivers Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne.

Henry (1.80 m, 250 pounds) played last season at the franchise auction, winning $ 10.6 million.

He has not yet played a full season in his NFL career and lost his final two games last season after being placed on the reserve / COVID-19 list. He lost the entire regular season of 2018 after tearing his ACL and four games in 2019 after suffering a fracture of the tibial plateau in victory in the opening week over the Indianapolis Colts.

Chosen by the Chargers in the second round of the 2016 draft, Henry had 196 receptions for 2,322 yards and 21 touchdowns over five seasons in the NFL.

ESPN’s Shelley Smith contributed to this report.
