Source – Jurickson Profar and San Diego Padres agree to $ 21 million deal over 3 years

Jurickson Profar and the San Diego Padres agree to a three-year, $ 21 million contract, a source familiar with the deal said ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Profar continues to show his versatility as a true utility, having played five defensive positions for the Padres last season, while watching most of his action on the left field and second base. He reached his .278 career record with seven home runs and 25 RBIs in 56 games during the shortened pandemic season.

The 27-year-old continues to enter the line offensively as he gains more playing time, something he did not have during his first six years after the top contender was drafted by Texas Rangers in 2012. He left for a horrible situation during the 2020 season, but compiled an OPS of 0.879 in the 43 final games, reaching 0.331.

The Padres acquired Profar in an exchange with Oakland Athletics after the 2019 season, and he beat Brian Dozier to win the title of second baseman. His slow start, however, prompted Jake Cronenworth to take the position, but the opportunity soon followed with Profar moving to the left after Tommy Pham’s injury.

Overall, in seven major league seasons, Profar has a batting average of 0.238 with 59 home runs and 222 RBIs with Padres, Athletics and Rangers.
