Source code for Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 allegedly being auctioned after hacking CD project

CD Projekt RED was in the news again this week, confirming that it was the target of a ransomware attack. By gaining access to a large amount of employee data, this anonymous hacker also threatened to release The Witcher 3, Logbreaker: The Witcher Tales and Cyberpunk 2077’s source codes, giving the CD Projekt RED 48 hours to meet your demands.

CD Projekt RED later refused to negotiate, referring to the Polish personal data protection office This deadline has expired and now it appears that these source codes have been put up for auction.

As reported by vx-underground, bids are reportedly starting at $ 1 million for the entire cache – said to include the next generation upgrade to The Witcher 3 – accepting $ 7 million for an immediate purchase. No mention was made of the employee’s data, but Gwent’s the source code leaked separately in the meantime.

The CD Projekt RED did not respond to this current development, but offered a Twitter update last night for former employees. Confirming “we have no evidence that any of your personal data has been accessed”, it still advises people to take precautions.
