Sony ended up with two new premium wireless home speakers: the RA5000 and RA3000. The RA5000 is what you see above, and it’s kind of hard to deny its resemblance to an electric razor. Artem argues that it looks like a set of atabaque drums.

The RA5000 and RA3000 are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled wireless home speakers with Immersive Audio Enhancement and 360 Reality Audio technology, both of which contribute to enhancing the home audio experience. Both are equipped with an automatic volume feature to keep things consistent between songs, as well as sound calibration for optimal sound if you decide to move it around your home. These speakers do not have a built-in Assistant and Alexa, but will be compatible with those assistants if you use another speaker or phone to trigger playback. Both have Chromecast and Spotify Connect integrated.

The domesticated-looking RA3000.

Only the RA5000 is certified for high resolution audio; it has three speakers firing vertically (giving the razor effect), three speakers firing horizontally and a subwoofer. Sony says the high magnetism neodymium magnets and the mica-reinforced cell diaphragm give the speaker more power than its size suggests. The RA3000, on the other hand, uses a full-range speaker, an omni-diffuser, a passive dual radiator and vertical firing beam tweeters. It is also worth mentioning that the RA3000 is moisture resistant and is suitable for use in kitchens and bathrooms.

O sharp– looking at RA5000.

Only prices in the UK and Europe have been announced so far (£ 500 / € 599 for the RA5000 and £ 280 / € 359 for the RA3000), both expected to arrive next month, but availability in the United States has also been confirmed.
