Back at the 2019 Game Awards, we saw Children of the Forest, the sequel to the cult favorite survival horror game The forest. It’s been almost a year since we’ve seen new footage of the game, but this week developer Endnight Games shared a new trailer that offers another view of the game, its story and launch window.
The one and a half minute clip does a great job of juxtaposing mundane and unnerving moments side by side. In a moment, the player’s character is cutting wood to build a hut in a clearing, only to come face to face with a grotesque mutant moments later. It also provides some tantalizing clues to the story. Therefore, if you want to enter the game blindly, we suggest that you do not watch the trailer. “Everything you will see is recorded in real time from our latest version,” according to Endnight Games.
