In issue # 155 of the discontinued Archie Comics series, Sonic the Hedgehog does the unthinkable for Tails, regardless of how he has felt since # 28.
Since its debut, Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails I always had a special relationship. In the Sega Genesis games, Tails was Sonic’s invincible friend who copied everything Sonic did, sometimes knocking down some robots and even Robotnik in the process. When Sega gave Tails the gift of flying in Sonic 3, he could take Sonic to new heights, as long as he didn’t get tired first. Although the two are practically brothers, Sonic broke the first rule of brotherhood.
All of the above occurred on Archie Comics discontinuation Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series. When Tails’ parents disappeared, Tails lived in Sonic’s house and they both slept in the same room. Sonic also brought his little friend on missions with him. But in issue # 155, Sonic betrayed Tails in one of the worst ways imaginable. He stole Tails’ dream girl, Fiona the Fox, for whom he had a crush since issue # 28.

It’s not like Sonic isn’t aware of Tails’ feelings. He once spoke to Fiona about how Tails felt to make sure she didn’t deceive him and leave him gently. Despite this, Sonic still started to flee with Fiona behind Tails’ back. Of course, Sonic had recently experienced his own broken heart. He and Princess Sally had just split up, and when he first sought out Mina’s affection, Mangosta, who had declared her love for him before, she refused him because she was now in her own relationship. But still. There were many other girls who were attracted to Sonic. So, why Fiona?
Regardless, Tails finally caught Sonic and Fiona sneaking into the forest together. The confrontation was heated. Later, Tails went so far as to tell Sonic that he hated him before running away, heartbroken. But the betrayals did not end there. Sonic continued to go out with Fiona, regardless of how much it hurt his friend and even displayed their relationship in front of him. What’s worse, all of Sonic’s thoughtless interactions would normally result in Tails running and crying. Each time, Sonic would normally have the audacity to ask what was wrong with Tails.
Although Tails was only 11 at the time and Sonic and Fiona were 16, Sonic should be more aware of his little friend’s feelings. In fact, Sonic later told Tails that he stayed with Fiona because he hoped Tails would eventually move on. It proves that he knew how Tails felt. While Sonic and Tails would eventually reconcile later in issue # 179 with Sonic admitting that he had been a selfish jerk, it is important to note that Sonic and Fiona just broke up. He would be Sonic the Hedgehog canceled the relationship for Tails at this point? It seems unlikely.
